Matt Berkey

Only the top seven players will make the money and the champion is going to grab $5 million

Only 16 players made it to Day 3 in the 2016 Super High Roller Bowl, and the leader is Matt Berkey. The poker pro has 2,816,000, more than 2x of his nearest competitor.

Berkey managed to bag up his stack thanks to a massive pot against Tom Marchese. The 34-year-old pro caught Marchese’s bluff and grabbed a pot of over 900,000.

The chip leader of Day 1, Timofey “Trueteller” Kuznetsov, couldn’t see the end of Day 2. He lost a big pot with ::Ah::Qh against Dan Colman’s ::As::Ad and eventually was eliminated by Jason Mercier and his flush.

Berkey is the only one player with more than 2 million in chips, but there are six players who finished the day with at least a million. Erik Seidel got the second place in the chip count with 1,299,000. Right after him are Dan Shak (1,243,000) and Jason Mercier (1,208,000). Dan Smith, Bryn Kenney and Andrew Robl also broke through the 1 million mark.

Brian Rast, the 2015 Super High Roller Bowl champion, won’t repeat his score as Dan Smith took him out with ::Ac::Jc against Rast’s ::Ah::5h.

Daniel Negreanu was also eliminated yesterday by Kathy Lehne. He was soon joined by her and 15 more players, including Stephen Chidwick, Dominik Nitsche, Bobby Boldwin, Dan Colman and David Peters.

The remaining players return today and will play to a final table of seven players. Action starts at 1 PM PT and will be streamed on Twitch.
