German poker pro wins his first WSOP bracelet and $4,981,775

The 22-year-old poker pro has won his fifth title of the year. He defeated a field of 183 players to win his first bracelet and the first-place prize of $4,981,775.

“Normally I am good with words, but this time, I really don’t know what to say. I just feel so overwhelmed, and I didn’t think that it would be like this. I just feel like I’m in heaven right now,” said Holz after his win.

This was his third seven-figure tournament score this year. He has made 13 table and cashed for $14,517,350. His lifetime earnings are now over $18 million and put him in ninth place on the all-time money list.

Holz came into the final table of the event in sixth chip place with 13 remaining playersHe built his stack until he was challenging Dan Smith, who came into the table as a massive chip leader.

In the final hand, Holz limped in for 800,000 from the BTN and Smith raised to 2,5 million from the big blind. Holz moved all-in and was called by Smith and his As 9s. Holz had 8c 7c. On the flop came Ts 9c 2h and gave Smith a pair of nines, while Holz got an open-ended straight draw. The 6c on the turn and the Ac on the river improved Holz to flush and left Smith at second place.
