2016 WSOP Main Event: 80 Players Remain After Day 5

Just 80 players are still alive in the 2016 World Series of Poker Main Event

In Day 5 the two former champions hit the rail – Greg Raymer (122nd – $49,108) and Johnny Chan (180th, $42,285). So now amongst the 80-player field, there is none Main Event champion.

Female pros also fell during Day 5, but Gaelle Baumann was the last woman standing and eventually eliminated in 102nd place for $49,108. Melanie Weiser took home the same prize after losing her chips with A-K.

Maria Ho finished in 242nd place for $36,708, getting all-in with the nut flush draw against Valentin Vornicu’s queen-high flush draw.

Former champs and female players weren’t the only possible winners ruled out on day 5. Notables who were eliminated include start-of-day chip leader Bryan Piccioli (84th – $67,855), 2015 WSOP player of the year Mike Gorodinsky (87th – $67,855), Brandon Adams (117th – $49,108), Dan Heimiller (137th – $49,108), Marc-Andre Ladouceur (139th – $49,108), Todd Brunson (154th – $49,108), Sorel Mizzi (157th – $49,108), Adam Friedman (177th – $42,285), Max Altergott (193rd – $42,285) and Shaun Deeb (221st – $42,285).

Still in the game are many big names, such as the 2014 Big One for One Drop winner Daniel Colman, who will come back today with 6,345,000 chips.

The current chip lead is Jerry Wong with his whooping 11,555,000. Jared Bleznick (7,995,000), Tom Marchese (7,155,000), Paul Volpe (7,290,000), and James Andy McLEOD” Obst (4,880,000) will also return to Day 6.

Every one of the players still standing has now guaranteed at least $80,721.
