Marcel Luske in Legal Battle with PokerStars

Former Team PokerStars Pro is suing PokerStars because he believes that the poker brand stole his poker tournament rules Marcel Luske is the founder of the Federation International de Poker Association (FIDPA). The association was found in 2007 in an effort to create a standardized set of rules for poker tournaments around the world. In his lawsuit, he claims that PokerStars agreed to pay him $25,000 per year for his International Poker Rules, which was a creation of FIDPA. According to Luske, the poker giant agreed to pay this licensing fee and to feature the FIDPA logo and branding on all PokerStars events. PokerStars Releases Finalized 2016 WCOOP Schedule

The finalized version of World Championship of Online Poker schedule is already online The series will run from September 4-26. The three weeks of action will feature over 80 events. For the first time, PokerStars is going to run a “Mini-WCOOP”. The mini-series will follow the WCOOP’s schedule, with buy-ins for the Mini-WCOOP being 1/100th of the WCOOP’s buy-ins. This year also features the largest buy-in tournament in online poker history – the $102,000 buy-in Super High Roller tournament. Some of you may remember that Tom “durrrr” Dwan offered 3-1 odds, that he could beat any player in online heads-up over 50,000 hands. The Durrrr Challenge offered $1,5 million to anyone who managed to beat Dwan by at least $1 after playing the required number of hands. If Dwan came out on top, his opponent would pay only $500,000. Phil Hellmuth has managed to get a role in the popular HBO drama “Billions” Billions are American TV series created by David Levien, Andrew Ross Sorkin, and Brian Koppelman, starring Paul Giamatti and Damian Lewis. U.S. Attorney Chuck Rhoades (Paul Giamatti) goes after hedge fund king, Bobby “Axe” Axelrod (Damian Lewis) in a battle between two powerful New York figures. Brian Koppelman, one of the writers, is already familiar with poker, as he was a co-writer of Rounders. The poker scene with Hellmuth has to be checked out when season 2 of the show airs next year.

PokerStars Announce WCOOP & Mini-WCOOP Schedule

After SCOOP and the WSOP, it’s time for the biggest poker series of online poker – the WCOOP PokerStars have released their latest schedule for constructive feedback. It includes the WCOOP and a new, smaller buy-in series – Mini WCOOP. The WCOOP is coming back on September 4th and will be running until 25th. This year the schedule includes 82 events, including a huge $100k Super High Roller, 8-Max with a single re-entry, a $21k 6max PLO High Roller, $10k standard, and HU High Rollers, and a $5k Main Event with $1.5m guaranteed up top. Amaya Cut Jobs in London Office

Amaya Inc. has confirmed that it has made a number of redundancies to its London office Amaya Inc., an owner of PokerStars, has cut a number of jobs at their offices in London as a result of the decision to merge Full Tilt and PokerStars into one brand. Eric Hollreiser, Vice President of Communications, confirmed last week that the office is going to lose part of its staff. Some affected staff is going to be relocated to their Isle of Man office.
