2016 WSOP Main Event: 80 Players Remain After Day 5

Just 80 players are still alive in the 2016 World Series of Poker Main Event In Day 5 the two former champions hit the rail – Greg Raymer (122nd – $49,108) and Johnny Chan (180th, $42,285). So now amongst the 80-player field, there is none Main Event champion. Female pros also fell during Day 5, but Gaelle Baumann was the last woman standing and eventually eliminated in 102nd place for $49,108. Melanie Weiser took home the same prize after losing her chips with A-K. Maria Ho finished in 242nd place for $36,708, getting all-in with the nut flush draw against Valentin Vornicu’s queen-high flush draw. Last night was played Day 4 of the 2016 WSOP $10,000 Main Event Championship at the Rio in Las Vegas The chip leader after Day 4 is the American pro Bryan Piccioli, who finished the day with 4,026,000 chips. Right behind him are Daniel Colman (3,711,000), James “Andy McLEOD” Obst (3,003,000), Jared Bleznick (2,568,000) and Tom Marchese (2,108,000). Women are also doing well in the event. Melanie Weisner is in top 10 with 3,078,000. Still in play are also the well-known female pros Gaelle Baumann (1,724,000), Jennifer Shahade (976,000) and Maria Ho (671,000). 2016 WSOP Main Event Draws 6,737 Players

A record number of players played at the WSOP $10,000 buy-in Main Event Registration has now closed. After the record number of players in Day 1C (4,240), the total field size for the Main Event grew to 6,737. The prize pool is over $63 million, and the first-place prize is $8,000,000. A total of 1,011 players will cash in the event, with a minimum of $15,000. This is the biggest player field since 2011 when 6,865 players took their place at the tables. Over 5,000 players are still alive after the first three Day 1s. Some of the notable players who survived the first day include Johnny Chan, Chris Ferguson, Justin Bonomo, Antonio Esfandiari, Daniel Negreanu, Phil Hellmuth and Phil Ivey. Some of the eliminated […]
